Mixing Friendship with Fitness

My best friend, KS, is travelling through Miami to New York from Venezuela where she completed an art project, B4 I Die.  So, what to do with my BFF during her short stay in Miami?  I decided to start our day off with a Vinyasa yoga class at my local yoga studio, Dharma Studio.  To me this is the perfect way to start off a day with a friend, here’s why:

Sharing is Caring

Incorporating fitness activities with friends is a way to show them that you care.  Is shows that you want them to be healthy.  I also know that after 2 months in Venezuela leading an amazing, but challenging project, she is ready to get re-centered and focus for her life back in New York.

Welcome to My World

Since she practices yoga regularly, this is also a way to share part of the Miami yoga scene with her too.

A Growing Friendship

I’ve been friends with KS for 17+ years and our friendship continues to grow and evolve, just as we do.  That’s the thing about longtime friends; you get to appreciate them for who they change into over time.  We’ve enjoyed many, many activities together, but this will be our first yoga experience together, and we are both excited.

Think Outside the Box

Most social activities revolve around food, cocktails, shopping, and other forms of entertainment that can be costly, heavy in calories, and sedentary.  Luckily, I was able to give her a new students pass so she enjoyed the class for free.  And the food that we ate after class was for FOOD for FUEL instead of FOOD for FUN, so it helped us both stay on our health plans.

Simply put, I love my friends because they are active, open-minded, and want to live long, healthy lives, which means more FUN TIMES and FRIENDSHIP STORIES ahead.
